Concrete arch dam and hydropower plant

Employer and subcontractor payment applications, budget and cost studies, BOQ work and comparative take-offs.

Context

One of the tallest dams in Türkiye: a 275 m double-curvature thin concrete arch dam with a hydropower plant. Roads and access tunnels with a total length of 70 km were built to replace the routes the reservoir would flood. I joined when the dam body stood at 85 m; dam and tunnel works ran in parallel with many subcontractors on site.

My role

As technical office lead I was responsible for payments, budgeting and cost control on the dam and access tunnel projects.

What I did

  • Prepared interim payment applications to the employer
  • Prepared and checked subcontractor payment applications
  • Budgeting and cost control
  • BOQ work
  • Comparative take-offs: contract quantities against executed quantities
